Chosen Design Option

The "Wiener"

Ahem. Along the way I have managed to assemble 5 different plan variations to illustrate the possibilities, but now it's up to me to choose (like from a Chinese menu. One from column A, and one from column B, and oh, I'll take the egg roll and wonton soup, too).

First, let's consider the front facades. Room layouts can change, but the overall look of our house from the front is a very important consideration. I'm not concerned, yet, with the exterior finishing. We could stay with stucco, and perhaps vary the color, or we could choose a wood or vinyl siding. We may decide we want some brick in the front, just for accent, but these decisions can be made later. Of course, you could make some decisions about such things, now, but first we will select the facade we like the "bestest".

This is it, below.

This is a combination of a couple variations. I decided I really liked the squared-off bay window in the master bedroom as well as the inset nursery (so the roof wraps around it), and I also liked the covered front porch with the "eyebrow" over the doorway. And this design also has the extended laundry room with the back door opening onto the patio in the corner next to the garage. The rear image for this (in case you forgot) is below.

So, now that I know what we have to deal with, we can move on to the next phase in the design process. So, click on this link to take you to second floor doors and windows.
