Northwest #1

This design, an "A-line" (roof line that is shaped like the letter "A", also called an A-frame), is a split entry/sunken living room plan with a very high, steeply pitched roof over the main living areas. It's not overly large, just under 2,200 sq. ft., but it does have some features I like.

Yes, this design and many of the features do appear somewhat dated. They don't seem "old" to me, but this design probably isn't typical of what you would find being built today.

Here is the main front view, shown at night. With my new graphics card, most renderings, even with 5 or more lights casting shadows, take about 5 minutes.

Here we see the side of the house. That's the dining room at the back left, bedrooms below.

Here is the rear view, shown at night.

We come inside the house and stand in the front doorway. This view is illuminated by the single light upstairs, outside the master suite doors (upper right).

Here is the same front doorway view, with lighting downstairs.

If we turn left and look out over the living room, we can see the 3 skylights.

At the top of the stairs, we see the kitchen, and the stairs both up to the kitchen, and down to the lower level bedrooms.

From the vicinity of the door to the garage, we look back toward the living room. That's the kitchen and breakfast nook up to our right.

Here is a closer look at the living room.

If we sat on the couch and looked toward the fireplace, this is what we would see.

Finally, we look back toward the kitchen (upper left) and sliding doors that lead to a back deck.

We walk up the short stairway to the kitchen. Breakfast nook on the left, dining room through the doorway at the right.

From the vicinity of the kitchen sink, we look out at the main living area.

From the dining room doorway, this is the dining room.

We look back toward the kitchen, from the dining room.

Though there's not much to see, this is the lower hallway. The bath and back bedroom doors are visible along the left. A small linen closet is straight ahead. You can just see the back door (to the patio outside) on the right side wall.

This is the downstairs bath. Note there is no half bath on the main level. Guests would use this bath (as would anyone else, for that matter).

And here is the back bedroom. Quaint.

Now we go upstairs to the master suite. This looks toward the front of the house, from the hall next to the walk-in closet.

From the corner where the hanging plant is shown (see the image above), we look back toward the sleeping nook, the walk-in closet, and the short hall to the sitting area.

Here is a better view of the hall and the plant ledge.

Final view of the master bedroom, from in front of the stereo cabinet.

Last stop is the master bath. Note the shower alcove, at center. A frosted glass panel divides the shower from the toilet. The shower and tub are both raised.

Another master bath view, from the tub.

Final view of the master bath. That's the shower to our immediate left.
